Confirmed answers about The Ascent Summit Challenge. Where a detail hasn’t been decided yet — the exact expedition dates, the charity partner, the training schedule — this page says so plainly rather than guessing.
The Ascent Summit Challenge is Ascent Onsite Group’s biennial social-value and fundraising programme, bringing colleagues, clients, partners and selected professionals together around a major shared challenge. Kilimanjaro 2027 is the founding edition, with a planned 20-person team and an £80,000 fundraising target for a selected charity.
The Ascent Summit Challenge is organised by Ascent Onsite Group (AOG).
Yes. Kilimanjaro 2027 is the founding edition of The Ascent Summit Challenge, a biennial programme AOG intends to continue with future editions.
Three routes are open: a Client Company Participant (an organisation sending or nominating a representative), an Individual Professional Participant (selected directors, owners and professional contacts), and a Campaign Partner (organisations supporting the challenge without necessarily sending a climber).
No. Registering interest does not constitute a confirmed place or a financial commitment.
None. Public charitable donations are kept separate from participant expedition costs. Donations will be made through the selected charity’s approved fundraising platform and will not be used to fund participant flights, hotels, mountain fees, personal kit or AOG administration.
Expedition costs are paid separately by the participant, their organisation or an approved campaign partner arrangement. The final cost and payment structure will be published once the expedition operator, itinerary and commercial terms are confirmed.
AOG is using a structured selection process to identify the charity partner for Kilimanjaro 2027. The assessment considers measurable impact, Coventry and West Midlands relevance, governance, safeguarding, fundraising capability, participant and business engagement, communications potential, and the ability to report clearly on the legacy created by the campaign.
Yes. Campaign partners support the challenge through kit, training, venues, logistics or services, without needing to nominate a climber.
Training follows a structured UK programme covering a fitness and kit baseline, an introductory hill day, progressive endurance and load-carrying, and a longer mountain day at altitude-relevant gradient. Exact dates and locations for each stage are still being finalised.
Exact expedition dates have not yet been confirmed. Kilimanjaro 2027 is the founding edition's target year; specific dates will be published once agreed with the expedition operator.
Cancellation and refund policies will be published once the expedition operator and commercial terms are confirmed.
